Information about the COVID-19 Vaccine (Update: January 11th)
The Spinney Surgery has now had official notice to start delivering the COVID vaccination programme along with the other Practices in the St Ives Primary Care Network (PCN) – Grove Medical Practice, Riverport Medical Practice, Moat House Surgery and Spinney Surgery. The patients of all four practices will be invited to one central vaccination site in St Ives with the first appointments due shortly for the most vulnerable patients aged 80 and over.
Patients in care homes and those who are housebound will also take priority, in line with NHS England’s plan. Patients in other age groups and also patients who are clinically extremely vulnerable due to their health condition will be invited as soon as we have notification from NHS England of our next vaccine delivery date.
Some patients in the first priority group may have already received a text to their mobile phone with a link to book an appointment, others will be contacted by one of our team by telephone in the next day or two so we can book on their behalf.
If you have received a text and do not have a smart phone, you will not be missed. As more appointments become available you will be contacted.
Please do not ring the surgery as we need to leave our phone lines clear to continue to delivery our regular GP services. We will contact you. Our staff can’t answer any queries you might have about the vaccine, or cancel vaccine bookings.
Patients who are classified as clinically extremely vulnerable include:
- Chronic respiratory disease, including chronic obstructive -pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis and severe asthma
- Chronic heart disease (and vascular disease)
