Surgery Guidance
Our opening hours have changed in order to reduce the pressure on our services and staff. We are open Monday to Friday between 8am – 1pm and then 2pm – 6pm.
Please be aware that all of our COVID-19 secure measures remain in place and have not changed due to the Government guidance update on July 19th, 2021.
Patients are asked to continue to wear a face covering, unless they are exempt, and to follow social distancing when visiting our GP practice. This follows the national Infection Prevention Control (IPC) Guidance for all healthcare settings and will help to ensure the safety of our staff and patients at all times.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will update patients accordingly.
Access to the Surgery
We are asking all patients not to physically attend appointments at the practice without prior agreement from a member of our clinical team. For children, only one parent/guardian will be allowed to accompany the child. Patients are still able to collect medication as well as their prescriptions. As per the guidance from Public Health England, children under the age of three years old do not need to wear a mask as they may cause choking or suffocation.
We have a brand new reception hatch window in the surgery lobby which means we now operate a different system at our reception. If you are entering the building or waiting in the lobby, you must wear a face mask.
If there is no one speaking to a receptionist in the lobby, please come in and speak to them from behind the glass where they will be able to help you.
If the receptionist is speaking to a patient at the reception window, please wait outside until they are finished and they have moved away from the window before going inside the lobby. Once you’ve spoken to the receptionist, you will either be invited into the surgery or asked to wait outside until you are seen. We allow up to three people in the lobby at one time to help with social distancing.
Prescriptions
Patients are still able to collect medication as well as their prescriptions. Dispensing patients are now able enter the waiting room and use the dispensary window to collect medication.

Self-certification for Self-isolation
Please be advised that the Spinney Surgery is not able to provide a fit note for patients requiring self-isolation for coronavirus. Patients absent from work due to sickness and/or being symptomatic and needing to self-isolate are able to self-certify. The Government has asked that employers use their discretion around the need for medical evidence if an employee is absent from work for more than seven days due to sickness.
