Recording your Blood Pressure

Everyone’s blood pressure will be slightly different and what’s considered low or high for you may be normal for someone else. Monitoring and checking your blood pressure means you can ensure it does not get too high which may put you at risk of health conditions such as heart disease, strokes, kidney disease etc.

Your risk of developing high blood pressure can increase due to weight, smoking status, age, activity levels as well as diet and exercise; you can try and keep it at a safe level either by making lifestyle changes or by taking medicines prescribed by your GP.

To help monitor your health and to check your risk for certain health conditions, you may be asked by your GP or a healthcare professional to submit some blood pressure readings. You can do this at home if you have a blood pressure monitor.
