Appointments

All consultations with a clinician (GP or nurse) are by appointment and available by contacting 01480 495347.  Patients can also book appointments online if they have online access. For more information, click here.

Patients requesting a same day appointment with a GP will first have their problem assessed by our triage nurses. They will assess the urgency of your problem and then offer you a suitable appointment with a GP or other healthcare professional if more appropriate. In some cases they may offer advice alone.

Telephone consultations with our GPs and practice nurses are also available for medical problems/queries which are appropriate to be dealt with without the need for a face to face consultation.

We do not operate strict personal lists however patients have a ‘usual doctor’ who they can see regularly. This may not always be possible for urgent or on the day appointments as not all the doctors work every day.

Additional Access

Patients of our practice are now able to book routine appointments to be seen by doctors, nurses and healthcare assistants in the evenings and at weekends in Improved Access – a new service provided by West Cambs Federation.

This service is available to all patients in this area seven days a week in sessions at the below clinics:

  •  Acorn Surgery, Huntingdon
  •  Buckden Surgery, Buckden
  •  Cornerstone Surgery, March
  •  Riverport Medical Practice, St. Ives/Somersham/Fenstanton

Cancellations & Punctuality

To help us offer appointments as soon as possible to as many patients as possible, please cancel any appointments you no longer need.

To cancel your appointment, either call at us the practice on 01480 495347 or fill in our Appointment Cancellation form. If you need to rebook your appointment, you will need to speak to a member of our reception team or book a new appointment using our online services. Appointments that are cancelled within 30 minutes of the scheduled appointment time will be classed as a DNA (Did Not Attend).

If you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment, you will need to make another appointment. To receive reminders for your appointments, please let us know your most up to date contact details so we can text you with your appointment details.

Home Visits

You should only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. If possible please try to telephone reception before 10am if you require a home visit.

These are usually made between 12pm – 4pm however we can offer no guarantee which doctor will make the visit. You can be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.

Patients With Particular Needs

Our surgery is accessible to patients using a wheelchair. We also have a parking space outside the surgery which is reserved for patients displaying a disabled sticker.

For patients with hearing problems, we can arrange special facilities. If you require these, please notify reception.

We can also arrange interpretation and translation services in person or by phone for patients who do not speak English. Please let us know if you need this service when booking an appointment.
